    • Yoga Meditation Visualized

    • The goal of Yoga is Yoga itself, union itself, of the little self and the True Self, a process of awakening to the preexisting union that is called Yoga. Yoga, Sankhya, Vedanta, and Tantra view the human as manifesting outward step-by-step, whereby the subtler consciousness projects evermore outward, and then gradually forgets those subtler levels. Yoga or "Union" is attained by first training, balancing, and purifying each of the aspects of our being individually, and then systematically receding attention inward through those levels, expanding so as to experience the state of Union, Yoga, Samadhi, or Turiya. • Love That Actually Works

    • Divine Love vs emotional love. Relationships of any kind don't work very well when people don't have a proper understanding of what love actually is. Love isn't selfish, it's selfless. Love is forgiveness, acceptance and kindness. Love is not addiction, neediness, or desire.

    • Elizabeth Gilbert, author of "Eat, Pray, Love" muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.  From www.ted.com

    • OM Mantra and the Seven Levels of Consciousness

    • The OM Mantra is a roadmap for sadhana, spiritual practices (written as either AUM or OM). It is not for the person who seeks only the shallow waters of spiritual life, but rather for those who strive to realize in direct experience the depth of the absolute reality. There are four main levels of consciousness outlined in the OM Mantra, along with three transition levels, which is a total of seven levels. Each of these is experienced on the inner journey of meditation and contemplation. It is important to be aware of the fact that these levels of consciousness are realities that exist universally, regardless of whether or not one uses the OM Mantra or the visual OM symbol in any way. In either case, the underlying principles are extremely useful for all seekers in purifying or clearing the mind, and seeking the direct experience of deeper truths.Different texts and teachings might use different names for different characteristics at these four levels; for example, virat, hiranyagarbha, ishvara, and brahman, as well as vaishvanara, taijasa, prajna, and turiya. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali  suggests remembering the meaning of OM Mantra as a direct path to Self-realization. Remembering the sound vibration of AUM, along with a deep feeling for the meaning of what it represents, brings both the realization of the individual Self and the removal of obstacles that normally block that realization. (See Yoga Sutras 1.23-1.29) Please see this article for more information: Om Mantra and the Seven levels of Consciousness

    • biofeedback graph one of muldahara energy, yang, affecting the ANS through skin conductance levels

    •   This is the beginning of the graph.  I posted it as part two because I wasn't sure if it would be in order in the photo album, lol.  Please see the info under the second photo for clarification, but in brief-- this is a graph showing how the energy of chakras CAN be graphed in biofeedback.  Of course it isn't a direct measurement but it shows how the autonomic nervous system can be boosted intensely.  Any energy work, chi qong, tai chi, specific kundalini processes will show some effect of the body/mind mechanism going through great changes.  Namaste
    • Biofeedback displaying how root chakra, yang, or muldahara energy effects Skin conductance levels, measure of the ANS

    •   This is a graph I performed with a really neat biofeedback program, which is fairly affordable called Wild Divine Grapher.  I got this reading in a seated and still position with no dramatic changes in breath, only a raising of energy.  The reading shown is Skin conductance level, which is a parameter of the Autonomic Nervous System responsible for fight and flight, related directly to the root chakra system.  Now, even though fight/flight is the mechanism described in psychology for survival mentality of our subconscious, there is alot more than meets the eye.  We can actually store or choose to feel this energy as a boost, or powerful euphoria to assist in breaking through the boundaries of difficult times.  Or we can bask in the intensity of our self trust and go beyond our fears.  The applications are infinite when you think about it.  This is the peak graph and the next photo will be where it started.  The wave was really two pages high.  Something to consider.  Mind over matter if you will.

  • Hi, Jackie. Sorry I didn't respond earlier to your question below. I sent you the following direct message:
The discussions about Yoga philosophy are are all occuring on the blogs and sometimes on the discussion forum, but usually it's the blogs. So the best way to get involved is to comment on blogs and write your own. As you do, you will find yourself getting to know people and you will end up writing comments on their profiles and sending them messages. (For example, now you know me and I would be happy to hear from you anytime about anything.)
We have tried to figure out how to draw more people directly to the group sites, but people seem to prefer the greater exposure and flexibility of the blogs. (That's why I didn't see your question until now. I've gotten out of the habit of looking there.)
Don't miss the opportunity to put the topics that are of interest to you in your own blog. A blog post can be as simple as a question, "What do you all think about this...".
Give this all a try and let me know how it goes. See also How to Get the Most Out of this Wonderful Community--Handy Tips.

  • To all Philosophy Group members:
It seems to be difficult to get a lot of people to come to this group page for discussions, so feel free to leave comments here, but I encourage you to also write blogs and post them to the group.
That way your ideas will get the attention they deserve.
Let me know if you have any questions.Bob Weisenberg
