Kripalu Yoga is an interplay of body, mind and energy. Within the physical body is a subtle flow of rhythmic, energy pulsations that we call prana, or life force. Even the most insignificant thought can disturb or block this flow of energy, creating imbalance or even disease. Kripalu works to restore balance.

    • "Seekers who believe they must practice yoga only in the meditation room are under a great illusion. They must practice yoga in society as well. Practicing yoga in the meditation room is easy because there are no external disturbances. The true yogi is one who can successfully protect his mental steadiness while in society." -Swami Kripalu

  • There hasn't been a comment here in awhile so I thought I would post. I am not a teacher but when I am able I plan to take my certification at Kripalu. I would like my family to be there with me. I had a teacher that was extremely educated and this is where she was taught. I had thought about getting certified before and thought any weekend course would do. She discouraged me from this and the more I come into my own practice the more I understand why. I wanted to make a buck doing something I loved but that was so wrong. Now I am making a buck doing something I can bare but yoga has become much more a part of my being. When I am ready Kripalu will still be there. I hope this group picks up. I would love to aspire with others of like mind. :) Thanks for letting me ramble.

  • I enjoyed "The Wisdom of Yoga", too, but not as much as "Quest". I would suggest "Kripalu--A Guide to Practice On and Off the Mat" as a better next step into Kripalu.

I am steeped in Kripalu, but I've never been there. So I can't help you with that. I'm sure others here can.

  • Did any of what I just said make sense?

It seemed kind of random. : )

  • I read Yoga and the Quest For The True Self, actually just last summer.
    Loved it.

I have also, read a few by Ila and Garret Sarley.

How about Cope's The Wisdom Of Yoga?
Have any of you actually gotten to visit and take any of the programs? I dream about it...I get their catalog, and dream. They also send out a good newsletter.

I actually want to move to western Mass.,(Northampton, for the arts community) and that would be great to have it closer and more accessible, within my life. I have found that there is a Kripalu affiliated studio here in Charlotte, and I would like to take classes there.

I love the way such spirituality is woven into the philosophy and the programs.

    Thanks, for the welcome, Bob!

  • Welcome, healingexpressions.

yogirev has been trying to rev up this group (sorry, couldn't resist). He knows there are lots of Kripalu-ites out there. He just can figure out how to bring them out of the woodwork!

Read Cope, especially "Yoga and the Quest for the True Self."
