Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu

My little book says this is a Sanskrit blessing for peace meaning "May happiness be unto the world".  So before leaving your house this AM or before your yoga practice open yourself up to what this day has to offer by starting with this blessing.

I thought I would invite you all into my little blog this AM with this blessing as a way to entice you to share you experiences here on YJ.  Share your life experiences enhanced with your communion with yoga.  What if your experience changes just one thought, just one life?  What if your connection with yoga, shared here, gives another that little ray of sunshine?  Hum?

But, you say, "I am not a writer."  I am not sure that would be a requirement.  Think of the joy in sharing and the words will come.

All my blogs are on yoga in daily life, and how it is enhanced by my yoga practice.  I want to share with you my humanity.  I accept that I am a flawed person but, in that, I find peace, harmony and solutions in my practice.  I share these life experiences with you in hope that my flaws will touch someone and, possibly, let them know yoga will help them find the answer.

So let this day be the first day in sharing you yoga life with all of us here.   Perhaps it will be the day you touch another's life with joy.  Come share with us.

Let's start today with, "Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu"

  • "Om Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu", also means "may all beings, in all worlds, be happy and well."

  • How funny you write this! I just started putting that mantra at the end of my classes! Sometimes things come about because the world needs to hear them and when a lot of people have the same message it's powerful.

  • Thank you for the lovely wishes to take us into the weekend.  I guess I can just add a quick comment about a lovely, and unexpected "visit" that I got while practicing yesterday.  As I was going through a round of standing poses yesterday in my living room, I was facing one of our windows, and noticed a little flash of feathery cuteness land on a branch - then another, then another - so I looked to see that a whole flock of Cedar Waxwings decided to join me for my pracice.  If you've never seen a Cedar Waxwing, here is a link to a picture:

They are absolutely beautiful birds, and I'm convinced that their presence made the remainder of my practice as light as air.
